IN VIA Volunteering
We are delighted that you are interested in volunteering with IN VIA!
IN VIA was founded 125 years ago through voluntary work. Today, more than 300 volunteers support the work in the migration department and in the station mission at Munich Central Station.
It is important to us that volunteers take on an activity that suits them and concentrate on their strengths. IN VIA offers you a professional framework, further training, legal security and insurance cover. In order to be able to offer you a good induction and support, you will receive detailed counselling at the beginning of your volunteer work. There we can talk together about the possibilities of getting involved and the respective framework conditions.
Volunteers provide the following support, for example:
IN VIA Migration department:
- Accompanying people with a history of displacement when dealing with authorities or looking for accommodation
- Translation assistance in various languages
- Individual German language support for teenagers and (young) adults
- Learning aids in maths, German and English for 6th to 10th grade
- Specialised learning aids for trainees in technical/trade, social/medical and commercial professions
- Assistance and implementation of programmes, workshops and courses
Further information and the contact details of the volunteer coordinator in the Migration Department can be found here.
Bahnhofsmission at Munich Central Station:
- Serving tea and bread to visitors to the station mission
- Transfer assistance for travellers with limited mobility
- "Kids on Tour" - travelling assistance for children aged 6-14 on routes to Berlin and Cologne
